Fashion Buzz- Behind the Scenes with The Fashion Truck

This was a different kind of Fashion Buzz! When I heard about mobile boutiques hitting the scene I thought “where has this been all my life and do they make house calls?!”

If your not familiar, a mobile boutique is literally a store on wheels! A bus or truck that has been redesigned to look just like a boutique but can stop and set up shop just about anywhere necessary.

When I learned we had a mobile boutique packed with brand new trendy items for under $100 right here in Boston, I knew I had to speak with the genius behind it! And that genius is named Emily Benson. She put the Fashion Truck in motion last summer and has been going ever since! The design of this truck is at first look simply chic- the flooring, paint color and crown molding will have you forgetting you just entered the back of a truck and not an upscale boutique. Especially when you realize there is a cash wrap with a full sized register, and two fitting rooms complete with area rugs to stand on and full length mirrors!

 But then when you analyze a bit more closely you learn that Emily and her dad, who helped design the space, came up with clever hidden ways to stabilize the fixtures and the product, like the lamps that are permanently affixed to the accessories station and the creative way she displays bracelets.

  
Its amazing to me that not only did Emily come up with up with an awesome concept and design, but she followed her dreams when others doubted her venture and -literally– trucked right on!  Speaking with her about her inspirations, future plans, and overall just her passion for bringing women great attainable fashion in a fun new way was totally inspiring. This young lady acts as the buyer, merchandiser, salesperson, marketing voice and the driver of her own boutique!
